WELCOME

St. Patrick's web-site was launched by Bishop Gerard Clifford on Tuesday 23rd September 2008. Bishop Clifford extends these words of welcome to all who visit this site.

Bishop Gerard Clifford

Welcome to the Parish web-site. First of all I want to congratulate Fr. Campbell and all associated with the preparation and launch of this site. This is an important initiative on the part of the Parish. The launch of this site marks a whole new venture on the part of  the Parish to bring the Good News of God's love for all to a much wider audience.

It is particularly appropriate that we have the launch of the weh-site in this year - the Year of St. Paul. I am reminded of his words to the disciple Timothy. He said; "Proclaim the message and welcome or unwelcome insist on it. Make the preaching of the Good News your life's work". That is the challenge presented by the launch of the parish web-site; to bring the Good News to a much wider audience.

This web-site will keep all of us in touch with that message. It will keep us informed daily of events in the parish; births, marriages, family events, parish events and diocesan news. At this time it will also be a vital means of keeping us up-to-date with the plans for renewal of faith in the parish and in the diocese. Next week we have the formal launching of the next stage of our diocesan pastoral plan for the parishes of the diocese. This is all part of a six year plan for renewal of faith personally, and at parish and diocesan level. We are now moving into a critical period in that plan. We now begin to look at the needs of the diocese as the Churrch faces new challenges to the faith. Part of the plan win be to address the need s at local level; to involve lay people more in parish life and to share responsibility together for the future of the Church. These are challenging times.

The new parish web-site hopefully will be a source of infonnation, inspiration and challenge to all. I congratulate all involved in the project and trust that it may be an instrument of renewal of faith for each and every one of us.
